Installation and Commissioning Supervision for STA BEGA Timisoara Water Treatment Plant

GTU has successfully completed the installation and commissioning supervision of the filtration and ozone treatment units at the STE BEGA Timisoara Water Treatment Plant, located in Timisoara, Romania.

The facility is designed with a treatment capacity of 130,000 cubic meters per day, sourcing raw water from the Bega River, one of the region’s primary surface water resources.

As part of the project scope, GTU provided comprehensive oversight during the mechanical and process equipment installation phases, ensuring that all works were executed in line with the design specifications, international quality standards, and safety regulations. The commissioning activities included process validation, system integration, performance testing, and operator training to ensure seamless handover to the end-user.

The filtration system comprises high-rate media filters optimized for turbidity and suspended solids removal, while the ozone station features advanced ozone generators and contact systems engineered for efficient oxidation and disinfection. The ozone process not only enhances microbiological safety but also improves taste and odor characteristics, contributing to higher public satisfaction and regulatory compliance.

This plant utilizes best available technology and process automation to guarantee reliable and energy-efficient operation with low chemical consumption and minimal environmental impact. The integration of real-time monitoring and SCADA systems enables proactive operational control and maintenance planning, ensuring long-term sustainability and cost efficiency.
